Whow wee – our first post on Disco-Very and we would like to start it off with a slow building bomb of a kicker. It’s jazz-soul man gregory Porter’s track “1960 What”, the somewhat centerpiece on his 2011 album “Water” – but not the original version. That one’s a lovely piece as well. But what blew off the lid for us was the Opolopo Kick Bass Rerub. Yet another fine example of what it really takes to turn a fine piece of music into a floor filler. Spice up the rhythm section just a touch an everything falls into place – like magic.
The Rerub can be bought on CD or downloaded on the amazing Tokyo Dawn label To get a taste, check out the track on YouTube
